Selenium deficiency is associated with mortality risk from COVID-19, and disease severity (Moghaddam et al, 2020; Im et al., 2020).

It is also established that selenium deficiency and excess can worsen fluoride toxicity, as well as thyroid disorders. (The three deiodinases are selenoproteins).
