Fluorosis survivor Suvarna dies of heart attack at age 26

Fluorosis survivor Ramavath Suvarna of Khudabakshpally in Nalgonda district, who had shot to fame for her portrait drawing skills, passed away at her house on Sunday.

Family members said the 26-year-old suffered a heart attack and collapsed around 10 a.m. Struck by fluorosis at an early age, Suvarna was confined to her cot or the wheel chair.

Her twisted limbs, and her right wrist and fingers could move only five centimeters, but her passion for drawing took her talent to several places in India and abroad. Her portraits include that of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and industrialist Anand Mahindra.

Fluorosis victim Suvarna, popular for artistic skills, passes away in Nalgonda

Telangana Today - November 13, 2022

Nalgonda: Fluorosis victim Ramavath Suvarna, who became famous with her artistic skills even though she could not move her hand for more five centimeters, died after a stroke on Sunday. She was 29.

A native of Kudabakshupally village of Marriguda mandal in the district, Suvarna was a fifth class dropout due to fluorosis. Incidentally, she suffered a stroke around 10 am while painting a picture of England Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Suvarna’s painting skills became quite popular with her works of known personalities being highlighted by newspapers and TV channels. She was applauded by several famous personalities after she drew paintings of them, despite her physical challenges.

These included industrialist Anand Mahindra, IT Minister KT Rama Rao, MLC K Kavitha and others. Suvarna’s brother Ramesh had died earlier of fluorosis.
