Nagpur: Health challenges arising out of constant consumption of fluoridated water in Melghat region of Amravati district will be addressed by an aerial drinking water production plant, set up by Ayurjaal Shuddha Jal Kendra at Ranigaon in Dharani tehsil.

The process involves extracting ambient air from the surroundings, filtering, condensing, mineralising it to get pure drinking water.

Ayurjaal Shuddha Jal Kendra’s aerial drinking production plant in Ranigaon is supposedly the first of its kind in Maharashtra and addresses the water quality challenges faced by people who have to contend with fluoridated water.

Longterm consumption of fluoridated water results in bad teeth, brittle bones and reduced immunity.

The project is run under the banner of ‘Swastha Jal, Swasth Jeevan,’ and supported by Nataraj Niketan Sanstha, Maitri Parivar Sanstha, Haldiram Charitable Trust, Samavid International and Haldiram Foods – all from Nagpur. The objective is to provide clean and healthy drinking water to villages across the state.

So far, purification centers have been established in Ranigaon, Loharisawanga, Bamani, and Mahendragad. Of these, the Ranigaon centre started functioning on December 22. Water expert Mukund Vilas Patrikar, who provided guidance, spoke of the transformative impact the project has on the lives of Ranigaon’s residents. Patrikar said, “Besides providing clean water, our aim was to create employment opportunities for the youth and women in the village.”

Ayurjaal Shuddha Jal Kendra aspires to extend its impact to over 100 villages this year. “This collective effort reflects a commitment to making clean and healthy drinking water accessible to all. It fosters economic empowerment and sustainable water management solutions within the village,” said Patrikar.

In places like Ranigaon in Melghat, drinking water problems are causing a serious health issue because there is far too much fluoride in the water. The extra fluoride is not good for our health and can cause problems like bad teeth and bones that break easily. Also, people can get sick more easily due to reduced immunity. The Ayurjaal Shuddha Jal Kendra’s intervention not only addresses the immediate need for clean water but also represents a crucial step towards mitigating the long-standing health challenges posed by fluoridated water.
